Bike lanes, pah. City-sponsored free bicycles, whatever. The best part of cities becoming more bicycle friendly: the accessories that flood the market due to the cycle-craze. The best one so far: the battery powered “Happy Ride” seat.

As reported by Cosmopolitan UK, the “Happy Ride” is one of the new releases by SexShop365. Constructed with a specially manufactured nylon seat cover and lined with EVA padding (which is fittable to any bicycle) the “Happy Ride” seat also has a vibrator attached. The, erm, rider is able to adjust the level of vibrations via a control pocket. At 11.75 inches long and 8.25 inches wide, the seat is also washable by hand. Not only that, but the device is supposedly does not have conspicuous noise levels when used.

That’s good. Heaven forbid your vibrator bike seat be too loud. It might attract attention.

Powered by two AA batteries, the seat is intended for use for women AND men. Or, perhaps both at the same time. Yes. We think we hear a new verse to the song “Bicycle Built for Two” being written right now.

Quoted in the Cosmo UK article, SexShop365’s head buyer Claire Bowden explained the new gadget was due to both the rise in cycling and the popularity of books like Fifty Shades of Grey: “Thanks to the UK’s cycling boom and the building obsession around next year’s Fifty Shades of Grey movie, both adults toys and cycling are firmly on the public’s radar. It was only a matter of time that the two combined to make your daily cycle pleasurable.” She went on to add, “We [SexShop365] are always promoting new ways to excite your love life, and the Happy Ride is a brilliant way to enjoy exercise, the sunshine and pleasure in one.”

Clearly, the “Happy Ride” gives a new meaning to cross fitnessing your daily commute. Hey, another trend! Look at that, if you use it, you are being healthy, green, AND tapping into the pop zeitgest.

After all, it is 2013, and multi-tasking is the name of the game. Why not kill multiple birds with one seat? We just recommend that you consider using it while cycling down a quiet country lane rather than in the middle of rush hour traffic in Piccadilly Circus.

Not only is the “Happy Ride” priced at the semi-reasonable amount of £28 (around $43 US), but shipping of the gizmo is free in the UK. In addition, batteries are included with your purchase, so you don’t have to wait to take it out for your first...test ride.
